CPAP is considered the standard treatment for obstructive sleep apnea. CPAP gives a gentle postitive pressure to keep your airway open during the night.  The CPAP machine will  provide a constant stream of air through a mask that you wear while you sleep. This eliminates the breathing pauses caused by sleep apnea.  With the use of CPAP you should not longer snore or make choking noises in your sleep.  More importantly you will be able to sleep through the night without waking up from disturbed sleep and a lack of oxygen.

When you use CPAP each night, you should feel more alert during the daytime and your mood may improve.  You may even find that you have a better memory. CPAP prevents or even reverses serious health problems linked to sleep apnea such as heart disease and stroke.

CPAP comes with a machine, flexible tubing and a mask. Most CPAP machines are small – about the size of a clock radio.  CPAP should also be relatively quiet.   If your CPAP is making a lot of noise if may mean it is not functioning properly.  You can keep the CPAP machine on your nightstand or at the side of your bed.
